From a Garage Idea to an Australian RV Leader
Starting with just $5,000 in 2005 and an online camping accessories store run from his garage in Queensland, owner and Managing Director, Vaughan Hindley laid the foundations for what would become Market Direct Group. By 2007, we were importing and selling soft-floor camper trailers directly to Australian customers, cutting out unnecessary overheads while focusing on quality and functionality.
As Australian travellers’ needs evolved, so did we.
Pioneering Change in the Camper and Caravan Industry
Comfort, convenience and offroad capability soon became non-negotiables for Aussie adventurers. In response, we transitioned from soft-floor campers to hard-floor designs, and in 2013, we launched Australia’s first hybrid offroad caravan.
Nearly two decades on, MDC Campers and Caravans have delivered more than 40,000 campers and caravans across Australia and every model we produce is still designed by Aussies, for Aussies.

Despite our growth, one thing has not changed — our hands-on approach. Vaughan remains deeply involved in the business as Managing Director, personally testing new campers and caravans across Australia and the United States.

MDC Campers and Caravans were:
- The first RV importer in Australia to achieve ISO 9001 certification, meeting international quality management standards.
- The first offroad camper and hybrid importer to gain full RVMAP accreditation across all facilities.
